Excess skin or subcutaneous fat on the inside of the arms is removed by surgery under general anaesthesia lasting about 90 minutes and requiring 24-hour hospitalization.
The resulting scar has a shape resembling the letter Y or T and runs along the inside of the arm just below the armpit and at the edge of the inside and back of the arm.
Postoperative treatment takes 2-3 weeks; the patient could get back to normal work routine 4 weeks after the surgery.
The purpose of the procedure is to reduce the volume of the arms and tighten the loose skin.
In some cases, the result of the described operation is improved by vibration-assisted tumescent liposuction performed in immediate vicinity of the operating field.
