Before the surgery
If you decide for the surgery after the consultation, you can arrange a date for the preoperative examination and surgery. You will also receive instructions on how to prepare for the surgery.
Medications that increase the risk of excessive bleeding during and after surgery should not be taken at least one week before the surgery. We also recommend discontinuation of taking hormonal contraception for 1 month before the surgery.
It is preferable you arrange an escort after the operation in advance, as it is not possible to drive or travel by public transport after the surgery. If you take any medication regularly, don’t forget to take it to the clinic.
After the surgery
After the surgery, hospitalization is necessary for 2-3 days. For the next 2 to 3 weeks, you should avoid physical exertion and stay at home. The patient must wear an elastic sleeve for 6 weeks after the surgery, then normal physical exertion is possible.
Three weeks after the surgery it is recommended to start with pressure scars massages for better healing. If the spacing of the straight abdominal muscles was addressed by the surgery, intensive physical exercise or body-building is not recommended for 2 months.
When will the result become visible?
The convalescence period is individual and is not only affected by innate dispositions but also following of postoperative instructions. Healing is usually accompanied by feelings of traction or changes in the sensitivity of the skin in the operated area and is completed within weeks or months. The resulting scar can be softened with regular pressure massages and over time it partially fades.
The effect of the surgery is permanent if the patient’s weight is maintained.
