Breast Reduction
in Men

Gynecomastia is a unilateral or bilateral enlargement of the mammary gland of men, which often manifests itself in pain and stiffness.

Men can suffer from gynecomastia from puberty to advanced adulthood.

Gland enlargement is usually caused by hormonal imbalance and, in fewer cases, it can be caused by endocrine disorders and diseases. Some men cope with gynecomastia very well, but it can cause vast psychological damage, especially during puberty.

In the case of the so-called small gynecomastia, liposuction is often enough to suction adipose tissue from the breast. This procedure can be performed under local anaesthesia without hospitalization.

Laboratory tests are important during preoperative examinations, especially hormone levels and mammograms, during which we establish whether the particular case of gynecomastia is suitable for surgical treatment or not.

From a health point of view, gland removal is recommended if its enlargement persists for a year and a half to two years after puberty, as a prevention of glandular cancer in old age.

LARGER GYNECOMASTIA

If the gland is larger, it is necessary to remove it by a small incision near the areola.

After the surgery, the only scar is around the outside of the areola, which is almost invisible. The surgery is performed under general anaesthesia.

EXCESSIVE GYNECOMASTIA

Only in exceptional cases where the gynecomastia is excessive, it is necessary, apart from the gland, to also remove the excess skin. Postoperative scars have a shape of inverted T.

The surgery is performed under general anaesthesia.

Working without any limits is possible one month after the surgery.

It is necessary to wear a special elastic band for 6 to 8 weeks. This elastic band should only be removed for personal hygiene reasons.

Frequently Asked Questions

You have questions? We have answers.

Are breast implants safe?

Implants used for breast augmentation have been tried and tested for many years and no increased risk of cancer or any other disease associated with their use has been proven.

How long will breasts hold shape after augmentation?

Unless you go through a significant change in weight or hormonal changes, the shape of the breasts will stay the same for many years, unless unreasonably large implants are used (there is a risk of slight sagging).

Implant manufacturers recommend replacing implants about 10 years after the surgery, but if the sonogram or mammogram is OK, there is no need.

How often after breast augmentation would I have to see a doctor?

Checks after breast augmentation (breast augmentation with implants) should be performed once a year, even if you have no problems. We also recommend that clients undergo a sonogram examination once a year, which can reveal even the slightest deviations from the normal condition of the implants.

How does breast augmentation affect potential pregnancy?

As pregnancy has an effect on the shape of the breasts due to hormonal changes, the results of the operation may be devalued. So, if you are considering pregnancy in the near future, it is recommended to wait for the operation until after the children.

Which plastic surgeries are covered by health insurance?

Ear correction for children younger up to 10 years of age.
