Mini-facelift Surgery

With the increasing age, our face droops and natural facial lines and wrinkles around the eyes, the mouth, the chin and the neck become more distinct.

During the Mini-facelift surgery, we tighten loose and sagging subcutaneous tissues which we achieve by “draping” the subcutaneous ligament (SMAS) with several stitches. Then we forcibly tighten the upper skin layer and remove the excess skin.

The surgery lasts from 2 to 4 hours, depending on its range. During the surgery, drains are inserted, which are removed the next day.

As this counts among the less radical procedures, it is usually performed under local anaesthesia.

Clients leave the facility on the day of the surgery after only a short recovery and with their companions.

It is possible to combine this procedure with double-chin suction.

Differences from Facelift

  • Mini-lift is lifting the facial tissues upwards, whereas a facelift surgery lifts the skin upwards and backwards behind the auricle.

  • The mobilisation area is smaller than in the facelift, which results in better blood circulation to the skin and faster and better healing.

  • Facelift is performed mainly under general anaesthesia, whereas mini-lifting can be performed completely painlessly under local anaesthesia.

  • The mini-lift comes with less swelling and a lesser risk of bleeding.

What causes the wrinkles to be so distinct?

  • The decreasing elasticity of the skin

  • The loosening of the suspension apparatus of the skin

  • The decrease of the fat subcutaneous layer in the face due to gravity

    Postoperative Care

    A firm bandage is necessary for 5 days. At that time, clients are usually able to do some work and social activities.

    We also recommend supporting facial tissues with an elastic headband or vertically worn headband (under the chin and on the top of the head).

    After the mini-lifting, the swelling lasts about 3-5 days. Compresses and medication can help prevent swelling.

    Stitches are removed between the 9th and the 14th day after surgery.

    Is it possible to get rid of the dark circles underneath my eyes?

    Lower eyelid surgery is used in order to remove the dark circles underneath the eyes.

    For this procedure, a personal consultation is required.

    The lower eyelid surgery can either be performed in a classic way or with a laser. Although the laser is more modern and quite gentle, it can not be used in every situation.

    What is the best time to have the protruding ears of a child surgically repaired?

    It is recommended for pre-school kids to undergo this procedure, as it is less painful for them.

    In children up to 10 years of age, this procedure is covered by the health insurance company.

    Do you also use galvanic iron in order to treat the skin?

    Yes, we do.

    Galvanic iron is one way you can keep your ageing skin in shape without having to undergo surgery. It rejuvenates the skin, smooths wrinkles, revitalises the scalp and smooths the whole body.

    I have acne scars and and sore holes on my face. Can they be removed?

    Acne scars on the face usually extend into the deeper layers of the skin and only surgery can improve the condition.

    Mechanical sanding is used first, shallower scars and previously sanded scars are then softened by surface laser evaporation of the skin surface.

    Small areas can be treated on an outpatient basis under local anaesthesia, for larger areas a short general anaesthesia is required.

    The healing time is about 10 to 12 days.

    If the skin is in a very bad shape it can be improved by repeated laser procedures at intervals of 6 months.
